Lulu
Doesn't Lulu just make you smile? Lulu was nominated as our "Pet in the Spotlight" not only for her cuteness, but most importantly for her spirit and determination to survive! We met Lulu when she came in on emergency basis after being attacked by another dog. She was barely alive with numerous bite wounds, a pneumothorax (air in her chest), severe shock, and a very low body temperature. Dr. Smith and the after-hours staff responded by treating her aggressively with fluid therapy, antibiotics, a chest tap, and warming. No one was sure if she would survive the night. Since we met her, she has spent numerous nights at the hospital where we have all come to know and love her. She is a joy to work with and never fails to greet with a full-body tail wag. Her human parents have been nothing but supportive, and we are happy to report that Lulu is now home with her family. We love Lulu and her smile!
